What started as a vision to make homeownership accessible, Cantwell-Anderson, Inc. was founded in November 1979 with a simple but powerful purpose — to develop quality homes for first-time buyers. From early condominium and single-family developments, the company steadily grew into something much greater.
Over the decades, Cantwell-Anderson expanded its reach across five states, acquiring, financing, developing, and managing a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial real estate. The mission evolved alongside the need — from single-family sales to multi-family rental communities, and ultimately to specialized housing for veterans and income-qualified households. That growth represents nearly $500 million in development and a lasting commitment to the people who need quality housing most.
Today, Cantwell-Anderson manages over 2,000 residential units nationwide — including affordable and income-targeted housing — alongside commercial spaces designed to deliver supportive services directly to the communities they serve. Forty-five years later, the foundation remains the same: building homes, strengthening communities, and creating places where people can truly put down roots.

Cantwell-Anderson's roots in residential development began in 1982 with boutique condominium projects in Pasadena, CA. By 1984, nine active projects and nearly 200 homes were underway. Just two years later, the company reached a defining milestone — delivering both a luxury townhome community and its first affordable housing development, laying the groundwork for a mission that continues today.
Cloudbreak Communities
Special Needs Housing Development for Homeless Veterans
Cloudbreak Communities is a family of mission-driven, Limited Liability Companies (LLC) engaged in the development of supportive housing for homeless, formerly homeless, and at-risk veterans. Owned and operated by Cantwell-Anderson, Inc., a California Corporation, Cloudbreak Communities have successfully completed development of over 2,400 units of housing in five states and coalesced myriad supportive service providers to deliver needed care. Over 1,600 units are currently owned and managed by Cloudbreak Communities, and another 1,000 are under active development.
